This has to be the most amazing AirBnB in Baltimore. “Museum in a Mansion” is a great description. Beautiful historic house with an amazing art collection in a perfect central location with a most gracious host. If you have a large family or group looking for a gathering place with a kitchen and common areas large enough to keep you all together, this is the perfect place.
Paul is an extraordinary host and curator of an amazing historic home filled with eclectic art, unique cultural collections, and fine antique furnishings. The home was a perfect place for family and friends to gather while in Baltimore. We were able to spend time together while enjoying the city, and everyone had their own private bedroom with a bathroom when it was time to retreat. The private outdoor space was a bonus for the location in the city. Paul’s home is a feast for the eyes from the top floor down to the incredible wallpaper adorning the rooms throughout the first floor. We all thoroughly enjoyed our stay and appreciate Paul sharing his exquisite home with us. It was truly an indelible experience for us all. Thank you, Paul!

The best Airbnb experience we have ever had hands down. The house is immaculate, and Paul is always available to accommodate any request. The artwork in the house is gorgeous and felt like we were staying in a museum. He single-handedly solved many (non house related) problems for us and made our wedding weekend absolutely perfect for us and our guests. He is the best host on Airbnb and we will be back.
Our stay at the Madison House was truly incredible. My wife and I got married and hosted the bridal party and welcome reception at the house. Every room was beautifully furnished and comfortable for our guests. We loved our stay at the Mansion. It is a beautiful and spacious house with a very special decor. The home was more beautiful than the photos showed. The home was ideal for a large family get together for my daughter’s wedding. It made an amazing backdrop for so many beautiful wedding photos. We stayed at Paul’s place for my daughters wedding weekend in Baltimore and it was perfect. There were nine of us who stayed there, and the bride, the mothers, and the bridesmaids all got ready for the wedding there as well. The hairdresser came in and the make up person and the photographers. everyone who went through the house was awed, not only by its beauty but by the perfect setting for wedding photographs. The pictures the photographer took are exquisite. Before the wedding, the grooms party, including Father’s and groomsmen, came to the house as well as some other family members, and we ended up hosting a light buffet lunch for 35 people prior to the wedding. The Sunday after the wedding, both families came together for an informal lunch and birthday party for one of the siblings. Overall it was the perfect place to stay, and we would highly recommend it as a venue for your special event. At all times Paul was responsive and prompt in answering questions. A perfect host.

My spouse and I stayed here with our wedding party and hosted our rehearsal dinner in the backyard. Had we known how perfect this space is for our wedding weekend, we never would have looked anywhere else. In addition to the obvious selling points, the kitchen has an industrial freezer, stove, sink, and refrigerator. The courtyard is larger than it looks in pictures. There are many beautiful common areas that are great for pictures and getting ready. Paul has multiple keys for each of the guests, which eased coordination. The event “fee” is a donation to a good cause. Paul was *extremely* generous with check-in and check-out, which was a godsend on a weekend where my partner and I had a million other hard deadlines to worry about.
I cannot possibly recommend Madison House enough.

We’ve stayed in 100s of airbnbs over the years and I can’t overstate how wonderful our stay was at Dr. Paul’s amazing home. Not only is it one of the most unique and impeccably decorated homes we’ve ever been in, it is rich in history and was in an amazing area of town. Not much more can be said that has already been said in the other reviews, but I’ll add that Dr. Paul is easily the most gracious and helpful host we have have ever met and we left Baltimore already contemplating when our next trip to his wonderful home would be. Dr. Paul was responsive, friendly and eager to help, and the space is a gem and represents the best of what airbnb has to offer.

We stayed at Madison house for my daughter’s college graduation. We are a large family and wanted to spend the weekend together. Madison house was the perfect place to spend the weekend. Each room had a comfortable bed and all had a private bathroom, so no issues getting ready for graduation events and dinners. The private patio was a great space for afternoon cocktails and the large dining room accommodated my family of 14.
I also cannot say enough kind things about Paul. He was an accommodating host and very responsive to any questions we had. We had a wonderful weekend.

Our family Christmas at Madison House was magical. Dr. Paul is a spectacular host who genuinely does everything he can to ensure you are well cared for throughout your stay. He promptly answered questions via text message leading up to our arrival and connected me with an amazing private chef that cooked for us during our stay. Dr Paul greeted us upon arrival and checked in each day to see if we needed anything. He and his sister also went above and beyond to purchase and decorate a Christmas tree so we had a place to gather and open gifts on Christmas Eve. This property was built in 1850 so you must be prepared for all the character a historic home offers. Rooms at the front of the house are best assigned to people who are heavy sleepers or are acclimated to city life. A stay at Madison House is a unique experience that I highly recommend. The property is adorned in art and full of a rich history. You will not be disappointed!
Where to begin? What a beautiful home! And what a fantastic host! The beds were incredibly comfortable. The kitchen was beautiful and perfect. The children loved the garden patio. This house was a treasure and a wonderful experience for our family. It’s absolutely beautiful, even more beautiful than the pictures. If you’re looking for a real treasure, a hidden gem in the city, look no further. Our family was able to be together in this big beautiful house and everyone had their own space. Amazing grand historic home in the cultural heart of Baltimore. I held my company retreat here. Everyone loved the place. With nine enormous bedrooms, a huge commercial kitchen and multiple other great spaces, it was the perfect spot for team bonding. Our host, Dr. Paul was kind, welcoming and very responsive. It’s a great place for family or business gatherings. I wouldn’t hesitate to hold a future event there.
This was a fantastic place for our large group. It’s an old house that has been lovingly cared for. Being surrounded by art bring a warmth and richness to the experience. If you appreciate history, unique experiences, and a celebration of life from many cultures, this is the place for you.
What a beautiful home and host. Our family came together from several states to spend Thanksgiving together in Dr. Paul’s incredible home. The home is such a large and lovely space filled with a lot of gorgeous art. The location is also very convenient to downtown Baltimore. One of the nicest parts of our visit though, was meeting Dr. Paul and spending time with him. He is a wonderful host with an interesting background. We had a fantastic time together and highly recommend this lovely home and host!

I’m not sure what I could say about this place that hasn’t been said in other reviews, BUT it was such a great stay it’s worth saying over again. I’ll let you read the other reviews but here are the things I feel are worth noting: 1) impeccable service. Dr. Paul is so thorough, that I felt bad for my lack of communication. He is super accommodating and seemingly has a genuine interest in you enjoying your overall stay (from the house to what you’ll do in town). He met me personally for check in and walked me through the house to give me the ends and outs. Very personable. 2) the house – its everything everyone said it is. But for some of us it became a bit more than exquisite pieces and great rooms. It was nostalgia. This house made us reminisce about our grandparents especially for those of us that had grandparents that lived in historic districts. From the smells, to the architecture…it’s rare you go away to a strange place and feel like home. 3) plenty of parking…in the city…’nuff said 4) proximity – great location. We were probably a couple of miles from any and everything we wanted to visit in the city 5) Memories!! You will NEVER forget this experience! I feel like there is more I could write but just rent the house and let it speak for itself.
First and foremost, this place is stunning, and the pictures don’t do it justice. Everyone who stayed with us or stopped in to say hi had to pick their jaw up off the floor. We rented for the weekend for our wedding at the Engineers Club. It’s literally a 2 minute walk across the Mt. Vernon “cross” to the Engineers Club, and it was the PERFECT base of operations for our wedding party. If you are getting married at either the Engineers Club or the Peabody Library, do yourself a huge favor and put your wedding party or family up in this place!!! Dr. Paul was a dream host. Quick on the draw with input, or solutions to any logistical problems. Considering how many people we had in the house, we honestly couldn’t have asked for an easier stay.
The Madison House is everything and more. Words can’t begin to describe the beauty of the property, and the accommodations were absolutely incredible. Paul was also an amazing host, there for us with anything we might need. I could not recommend the Madison House highly enough.
The Madison House is simply STUNNING!! Dr. Paul is extremely responsive, gracious, and accommodating. We needed 9 bedrooms for a family event and the Madison House was clean, well-appointed, and comfortable with an astonishing art collection. The location right off Charles Street was convenient to groceries, the liquor store, museums, and several cafes. The arboretum in the back is a beautiful retreat from the hustle of downtown and softly framed by foliage. When I typed in 9 bedrooms in Airbnb, I really did not think anything would come up, but I’m thrilled that the Madison House did!
Thank you to Dr. Paul for welcoming my large group into his home. The space was even larger than I expected. When you walk in, you are welcomed with a set of wooden stairs and a long hallway, and to the right, the living room space. The living room space was so spacious and could fit more than 30+ people. We were in town to reunite our friend group who hasn’t seen each other in a long time as well as celebrate one of our friend’s birthdays. Each room had its own set of bathrooms – I loved this feature because each person had a more comfortable time getting ready. [The Elliott Bedroom does not have one but there is a study room/library with a shower/bathroom.] Each room also had its own AC. The parking lot can fit lots of cars (around 8)! Dr.Paul checked up on me every day and gave me recommendations. The house was very convenient as there was a nice park/monument one block from where we lived. When I wasn’t feeling well, Dr.Paul was also ready to make time to give me a checkup. I never met an Airbnb host that cared so much about my group and me having the best time. P.S. There is no TV in the living room and we didn’t all fit in the television room – I recommend bringing a projector and white sheet to use in the living room since it’s so spacious.
The place is amazing, like staying in a mini museum but also very comfortable. I had my wedding nearby and hosted the families of the bride and groom here. It was a conversation piece among the guests we had over for breakfast the next day! There’s so much space, plenty of bathrooms, and it looks even better than the pictures. Paul was very available for any questions and wished us well on our marriage!
Paul’s place is incredibly beautiful and awe inspiring. Everything was absolutely perfect. Paul greeted us at the door and checked in a couple of times to see if everything was OK. We did not want to leave! Hope to stay here again–would be the perfect place for a few friends to stay and catch up over a long weekend.

Madison House was just perfect for our family’s reunion and my daughter ‘s baby shower! We could not have asked for a more perfect place to stay. It is beautifully decorated, immaculately clean and huge! We had 16 family members staying here and everyone had their favorite spot. Though the weather did not cooperate we all had a blast just hanging out in this beautiful mansion! Highly recommend this !
